Transforming Water Operations: The Power of Digital Twins for Utilities of All Sizes

In an era where water utilities face increasing pressure to improve operations, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, digital twins have emerged as a transformative solution. They integrate systems and analyze siloed data, utilize AI-powered leak detection, and provide situational intelligence for improving decision making. They help identify network issues, minimize downtime, reduce costs and maximize efficiency.

This webinar will feature a panel discussion that will explore how digital twins can benefit water utilities of all sizes—including small systems—by providing innovative tools to tackle pressing challenges in the water sector.

This session will address:

  • How digital twins are reducing non-revenue water loss and improving operational efficiency
  • Operational pressures faced by water utilities and the need for efficiency
  • How digital twins can help utilities “do more with less”
  • Solutions for small systems facing unique challenges
  • Strategies for leveraging funding to enhance digital infrastructure.

Join us to discover how digital twins are changing the landscape of water operations, making advanced technology accessible and beneficial for utilities of all sizes.

Fast Track to Success – How to Expedite Your Advanced Metering Projects by Proactively Overcoming Objections and Roadblocks

Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) provides many benefits, including greater efficiency, better customer services, and. greater insight into usage. However, utilities can encounter objections, roadblocks, challenges, and concerns along the way that can be internal or external to the utility, and can come at any and all phases of the project. Utilities need to recognize and address these issues proactively to get buy in from key stakeholders and expedite the approval process to get their AMI system installed and operational quickly and efficiently.

By attending this webinar, readers will be able to:

  • Recognize key issues that may arise at various stages of AMI implementation.
  • Understand strategies and tactics to address these issues, as well as how to position common issues successfully to key stakeholders to overcome them.
  • Learn how trusted partnerships can help utilities address these issues, as well as what to look for in a trusted partner.
  • Learn how Metering-as-a-Service (MaaS) can help utilities address issues.
  • Apply principles and lessons learned in a case study of successfully implementing AMI to address their own issues.

Modernizing the Utility Procurement Model with Metering as a Service

As utilities in the water industry consider digital transformation, many struggle to reconcile the benefits of an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) with the costs. For most utilities, the transition to AMI requires a significant capital expense and a long road to return on investment. There must be a better way.

Introducing Metering-as-a-Service (MaaS), an offering of Sustainability Partners and Kamstrup Water Metering. This innovative model enables utilities to transition to, or upgrade existing, AMI with no up-front cost and immediate positive cash flow. MaaS satisfies infrastructure and financing concerns to ensure a worry-free, cost-effective solution for municipalities.

Instead of buying, installing, and maintaining a solution themselves, utilities pay at monthly per-meter fee and receive a hassle-free, performance guarantee on every meter, which covers replacements and associated costs for the life of the service contract. With MaaS, municipalities can redirect their focus from meter-related concerns to critical issues.

In this presentation, Bruce Bharat, VP and Country Manager for Kamstrup, North America will explore the benefits of Metering as a Service, including the real-world success stories from over twenty utilities and municipalities that have selected MaaS. Learn about the impressive return rates that MaaS offers, ensuring a day-one positive cash flow and freeing up municipal capital for essential projects.

Beyond Wire Breaks: Pipeline Monitoring to Prevent Failures and Advance Asset Management

Continuous monitoring prevents dangerous failures and emergency repairs in prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP). Monitoring helps utilities identify which pipes need rehabilitation and provides a long-term view of structural health. With this data, utilities can confidently extend a pipeline’s remaining life at a fraction of replacement cost.

The first acoustic fiber optic monitoring system was installed in a water pipeline in 2005. Nearly two decades later, utilities have valuable lessons to share about adopting this technology, preventing failures, and using monitoring data to cost-effectively manage their transmission mains.

This interactive panel brings together utility leaders from across North America to discuss how they successfully implemented a monitoring program and share insights into how they overcame a wide range of challenges. Join Xylem and our utility partners to learn more about SoundPrint® AFO and how this technology could improve reliability in your water network.
